All are welcome!

“All are welcome here and we extend a special welcome to those who are single, married, divorced, gay, lesbian, transgender, filthy rich, dirt poor, yo no hablo inglés. We extend a special welcome to those who are crying newborns, skinny as a rail or could afford to lose a few pounds. We welcome you if you can sing as beautifully as our cantors or like our pastor with a heavy Latino accent. You’re welcome here if you’re “just browsing,” just woke up or just got out of jail. We don’t care if you’re more Catholic than the Pope or haven’t been in church since little Melissa’s Baptism. We welcome those who have been in this land for many generations and those who just arrived, the documented and the undocumented. We extend a special welcome to those who are over 60 but not grown up yet, and to teenagers who are growing up too fast. We welcome soccer moms, football dads, starving artists, tree-huggers, latte-sippers, vegetarians and junk-food eaters. We welcome those who are in recovery or still addicted. We welcome you if you’re having problems or you’re down in the dumps or if you don’t like “organized religion;” we’ve been there too. If you blew all your offering money betting on horses, tough luck for us. You’re still welcome here. We offer a special welcome to those who think the earth is flat, work too hard, don’t work, can’t spell, or because grandma is in town and wanted to go to church. We welcome those who are inked, pierced or both. We offer a special welcome to those who could use a prayer right now, had religion shoved down your throat as a kid or got lost in traffic and wound up here by mistake. We welcome tourists, seekers and doubters, bleeding hearts ... In short, we welcome you!”

Faith Direct

As you are probably aware, church attendance during
the summer months tends to drop off as vacations and
weekend sporting events often conflict. On the other hand,
the services we provide within the parish and for the larger
community continue year round, as do their associated
expenses. Thus, your consistent financial support of our
parish is vital to achieving our stewardship mission.
The easiest way to be sure that your gift of treasure reaches
us, even when you can’t be here, is through enrollment in our
electronic offertory program: Faith Direct. If you have not
yet enrolled, please consider doing so this month.

Enroll today!   www.faithdirect.net and use our parish code NJ23.

Thank you in advance for your support and for using Faith Direct!

Saint Mary's Stephen Ministry
Christ-centered, compassionate care-giving ministry of presence
Christ-centered, compassionate care-giving ministry of presence

St. Mary’s Stephen Ministry

is a Christ-centered, compassionate care-giving ministry of presence. Our Stephen Ministry supports our parishioners by deepening, expanding, and extending the caregiving capacity of our parish. After completing 50 hours of initial training, St. Mary’s Stephen Ministers provide confidential, high-quality, one-to-one care to people going through a difficult time in life, such as grief, loneliness, divorce, job loss, chronic or terminal illness, or some other life crisis. Each Minister typically provides care to one person at a time, meeting with that person once a week for about an hour, to listen, encourage, and provide emotional and spiritual support. Men are matched with men; women with women. After initial training, our Stephen Ministers meet in small groups twice a month for peer supervision and engage in continuing education to further enhance their skills. Our Stephen Ministers put their faith into action for others who are facing life’s challenges so they will never feel alone.

During the past 9 years, more than 75 St. Mary’s Stephen Ministers cared for nearly 200 people from our parish and broader community. St. Mary’s Stephen Ministry consists of a trained team of 6 Stephen Leaders and 21 active Stephen Ministers currently engaged in 19 one-to-one caring relationships. In the past 6 months five members of our leadership team, including one of our friars, went for a whole week of intense training for leaders.

We welcome you to call 973-835-0374, ext. 113 to learn more about St. Mary’s Stephen Ministry.
Annual Fund -Our building of God's Kingdom
Annual Fund
Annual Fund
Dear Saint Mary’s Family

May the Lord give you peace!
I am happy to report that in the two months since we launched our Annual Fund, we have raised $117,481.00 in total pledges of which we have received $90,076.50 so far. To date, 483 families have made a gift toward our goal of $325,000. If you have not yet contributed to this year’s Annual Fund, I urge you to do so now. I would love to count you among those donors in my next report! This annual fund is vital to the operation of the parish and our building of God’s Kingdom at Saint Mary’s. Without the income from the Annual Fund we cannot sustain the activities and ministries of our parish. If you've never made a gift to the Annual Fund, or if it's been a while since your last gift, may I ask that you consider a gift of $100 or more this year. Giving details can be found by following the link below.
