Pentecost Sunday, June 4, 2017

N
ext Sunday is the great feast of Pentecost when we
commemorate the coming of the Holy Spirit. It is, in
reality, the completion of our Easter celebration.

On the
first Pentecost, the apostles received the gifts of the Spirit to proclaim to the whole world the Good News. Despite differences in language and culture, we are one Lord, one Faith and one Baptism.

We ask everyone to WEAR SOMETHING RED for this
feast day. The church interior will certainly be decorated in Pentecost red; we ask you, the Church, to be decorated in red as well.

English as Learning Language (ELL) Graduation Party and Farewell celebration
of Tom McKenzie- Welcoming of new volunteer director: George Dean.

On Wednesday May 24, 2017, we had the graduation party for our ELL students- It was also the retirement party for Tom McKenzie, after 19 years of interrupted service as Saint Mary’s ELL Director. We prayed, distributed diplomas and paid tribute to Tom and his wife Dalia for their Christian discipleship. George Dean, our new ELL Director, and some of our volunteer teachers were in attendance.

Annual Fund
Annual Fund
Annual Fund

Dear Parishioners and Friends of St. Mary’s,

May the Lord give you peace!
We are now in the midst of the Easter Season and are
reminded how blessed we are at St. Mary’s. Every blessing we have is a direct result of our faith, our community and our life as Disciples of Christ.
I am happy to kick off the St. Mary’s Annual Fund Drive which is vital to the operation of our parish. It helps us accomplish so many things we might not otherwise be able to do. Our goal this year is $250,000 and I am asking you to please make a gift. If you made a gift last year, please consider increasing it by 10%. If you’ve never made a gift to the Annual Fund, I ask that you make a gift of $25 this year. Giving details are on the back panel of this brochure. Your generosity to the Annual Fund is truly appreciated!
Our faith, our community and our life as disciples compels us to care for one another. True giving comes from a place of deep gratitude. When we acknowledge that our faith sustains us, we are really saying we are grateful to God. When our life in community challenges us to be better
people and give more for the common good, we are really
saying we are grateful to our sisters and brothers in our community. When, as Disciples of Christ, we preach the Good News so that everyone we meet can see the power of Christ in our lives, we know we are grateful to God for all he has done for us in Jesus Christ. When we give so others may have an experience of faith, community and
discipleship, we are doing the work of the Gospel. Your gift to the Annual Fund is not only a sign of your gratitude, it is an important way of ensuring that the good work of
St. Mary’s continues for years to come.
Please take some time to pray about your gift to St. Mary’s and realize it is more than a gift—it is a commitment to the ongoing life of our parish. Thank you very much!

Sincerely,

Fr. Frank Sevola, OFM
Pastor
