Recent Frances Medal Recipients

The Franciscan Friars of Holy Name Province were pleased to award the Francis Medal to St. Mary's School teachers Linda Monastro and Catherine Feld, for their "uncommon contribution to the advancement of the values and ideals of St. Francis of Assisi. Their generosity and sacrifice have enriched our human family and given concrete expression to the spirit of St. Francis.” The medal was awarded on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at 8:30 AM during our last school Mass of the academic year. Both, Mrs. Monastro and Mrs. Feld, have served at Saint Mary's for more than 25 years. The Francis Medal is the highest honor given by the Franciscans.

Soup Kitchen Ministry

Members of the St. Mary's Soup Kitchen Ministry served lunch to 220 guests at the Jersey City soup kitchen on June 17. Twenty to twenty five volunteers are needed each month. The experience is priceless. Volunteers are also needed to cook food, to call volunteers, to distribute pans after masses, and to receive precooked meals.

Annual Fund
Annual Fund
Annual Fund

Dear Parishioners and Friends of St. Mary’s,

May the Lord give you peace!
We are now in the midst of the Easter Season and are
reminded how blessed we are at St. Mary’s. Every blessing we have is a direct result of our faith, our community and our life as Disciples of Christ.
I am happy to kick off the St. Mary’s Annual Fund Drive which is vital to the operation of our parish. It helps us accomplish so many things we might not otherwise be able to do. Our goal this year is $250,000 and I am asking you to please make a gift. If you made a gift last year, please consider increasing it by 10%. If you’ve never made a gift to the Annual Fund, I ask that you make a gift of $25 this year. Giving details are on the back panel of this brochure. Your generosity to the Annual Fund is truly appreciated!
Our faith, our community and our life as disciples compels us to care for one another. True giving comes from a place of deep gratitude. When we acknowledge that our faith sustains us, we are really saying we are grateful to God. When our life in community challenges us to be better
people and give more for the common good, we are really
saying we are grateful to our sisters and brothers in our community. When, as Disciples of Christ, we preach the Good News so that everyone we meet can see the power of Christ in our lives, we know we are grateful to God for all he has done for us in Jesus Christ. When we give so others may have an experience of faith, community and
discipleship, we are doing the work of the Gospel. Your gift to the Annual Fund is not only a sign of your gratitude, it is an important way of ensuring that the good work of
St. Mary’s continues for years to come.
Please take some time to pray about your gift to St. Mary’s and realize it is more than a gift—it is a commitment to the ongoing life of our parish. Thank you very much!

Sincerely,

Fr. Frank Sevola, OFM
Pastor

As you are probably aware, church attendance during
the summer months tends to drop off as vacations and
weekend sporting events often conflict. On the other hand,
the services we provide within the parish and for the larger
community continue year round, as do their associated
expenses. Thus, your consistent financial support of our
parish is vital to achieving our stewardship mission.
The easiest way to be sure that your gift of treasure reaches
us, even when you can’t be here, is through enrollment in our
electronic offertory program: Faith Direct. If you have not
yet enrolled, please consider doing so this month.

Enroll today!   www.faithdirect.net and use our parish code NJ23.

Thank you in advance for your support and for using Faith Direct!
