St. Mary's Parish in Pompton Lakes, New Jersey within the diocese of Paterson
is a unique Christian Community
rooted in the Catholic and Franciscan traditions.
Here religious and laity strive to be equal partners in ministry. We seek to live and proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ.
We welcome, celebrate and nourish
one another through
outreach, evangelization and
joy-filled worship.

The Feast of Christ the King
A Call to Liturgical Ministry
Each Sunday, we assemble in the name of Jesus, to worship through the power of the Spirit. At this assembly, each of us hears and responds to the Word of God and the celebration of Eucharist in words, songs, gestures and prayerful silence. We are then challenged to go forth to share the richness of this celebration with others. Our is the central and most important ministry - the work of the celebrating assembly.
MINISTERS OF THE WORD
Lectors who proclaim the Sacred Scripture
MINISTERS OF THE EUCHARIST
Eucharistic Minsters who assist in distribution of Communion
(also Homebound, Nursing Home and Hospital Ministers)
MINISTERS OF MUSIC
Songleaders, musicians, choristers, children’s choir, instrumentalists
MINISTERS OF HOSPITALITY
Greeters and ushers who welcome people and take up the offering.
MINISTERS OF THE ALTAR
Servers and funeral servers who assist the priest on the altar.
MINISTERS OF THE ENVIRONMENT
Decorators who create the seasonal environment and workers who keep our church clean.

“By this sign may you receive Christ’s love and always follow Him.”

Our Lady of Guadalupe
On Sunday December 7th we will join our Latino sisters and brothers in celebrating
Our Lady of Guadalupe. There will be a bilingual procession departing from
St. Anthony’s in Butler at 6:00 AM and arriving at Saint Mary’s at 8:30AM.
This will be followed by a bilingual Mass with a Mariachi band at 9 AM in the church
and a festive celebration in the Carnevale Center. Our Lady of Guadalupe is the Patroness
of the Americas. This celebration is a wonderful way to honor the Blessed Mother
and to join with our Latino brothers and sisters in celebrating our unity as
Americans—North, South and Central!
Please join us!

Become a Greeter
Join us on Tuesday, November 25, at 7:30 PM in church for a meeting of parishioners to learn more about becoming a Greeter.

We’re beginning a new ministry at St, Mary’s - when a visitor or member enters the doors of the church, a Greeter is waiting to provide a warm and genuine word of welcome.
Greeters serve on the frontlines of the church’s hospitality ministry and provide a positive first impression for guests and a “glad-to-see-you- again” feeling for regular attendees of St. Mary’s.

Qualifications, skills and gifts—
•People-oriented and friendly.
•Outgoing and personable.
•Cheerful and warm; easy to approach.
•Knowledgeable of locations of various ministries and programs within the church.

Please contact Dorothy Limey with any questions or concerns: cdlimey@stmarys-pompton.org, 973.650.8962.

Come to Me, all you who are
weary and burdened,
and I will give you rest.
–Matthew 11:28

Men are often referred to as the
king of the castle, ruler of the
roost. He is the shepherd of his
family. This role can become
overwhelming at times, and this
king, ruler, shepherd feels the
need to stop and sort “life” out.
He needs to talk through his
issues and release the tensions and anxieties. Men, find the
courage to call for a Stephen Minister, who will listen, not
judge and support you in a confidential relationship.

Giving Tree
This is the 37th year of our Giving Tree at St. Mary’s; please help us share the spirit of Christmas with those less fortunate by donating gift cards from our local merchants. This will allow our families to make their own choices of things they need for Christmas.
Please consider purchasing your Giving Tree gift cards from the St. Mary’s School Scrip Program.
Gift tag ornaments may be taken from the trees hanging in church, the Carnevale Center and the Parish Office.
Just make a check payable to St. Mary’s and drop it off [with the ornament] in the Giving Tree box at the Parish Center. You can also mail your check [with the ornament] to St. Mary’s Parish.
Thank you for your generosity!

2014 Bishop's Annual Appeal
Many members of our parish have received or will soon receive, a letter from Bishop Serratelli asking you to support the 2014 Bishop’s Annual Appeal. This year’s theme is Be An Ambassador for Christ. One way to fulfill that call is to support the many ministries and services that receive financial support from the Appeal.
Reflect on the gifts that God is constantly giving to each of us and on our gratitude for these gifts, then please give to the Appeal as generously as your means allow.
[When our parish reaches its goal in cash received, 50% of the additional funds received will be returned to us for use in our parish.]
Thank you for your support.
