Music Ministry >> Choirs for Adults

St. Mary’s is now the home of two choirs for adults.  The Adult choir, and Chamber Choir  now give our parishioners a variety of places to minister.  The information about each specific choir is listed below.

Adult Choir (AC) - Adult choir is a volunteer group open to all adults who wish to join.  They rehearse on Mondays from 7:45- 9:15pm, September – Pentecost, in the Music Room in the Carnevale Center.   Adult choir sings every other week at various parish masses.

Chamber Choir (CC) – Chamber choir is a small group made up of about 15 Adults.  As one of two auditioned groups at St. Mary’s Chamber Choir sings a wide variety of more difficult repertoire in addition to being the resident choir for the Lessons and Carols service.  Chamber Choir rehearses from 7:45pm to 10pm on Thursdays in the Music Room in the Carnevale Center; and sings every weekend at various masses.   The Chamber Choir season is March through December.  Anyone interested in joining is encouraged to call the ministry office for more information and an audition.

Cantors/ Instrumentalists – St. Mary’s is very proud of our leaders in song, who work very hard to lead the congregation in sung prayer. As well as the various instrumentals who come each week to enhance our worship.   All cantors and instrumentalist are chosen by audition and they sing and play at various masses every weekend; as well as funerals and weddings.  Any parishioner interested in auditioning is encouraged to call the Music Ministry office.

Absence – It is a courtesy to contact the Director of your choir when you will be late or absent.  If you know of a conflict in advance please let your director know as soon as possible so any changes can be made.  This year we ask that you sign your name, and choir on the calendar outside of the Music Room in the Carnevale Center on the day you know you will be absent.  This is to ensure that enough choir members are present for any given rehearsal or Mass.  Choir is a “team sport”, at the discretion of any director a choir member may be asked to sit out for a mass if he/she has missed too many rehearsals..

Cancellations – This year we will again be using an e-mail system to notify you of cancellations.  Please be sure and fill out the contact form so that we may e-mail you in case of a cancellation. If you do not have access to e-mail, please call the parish center and listen to the message on extension 158.  We will update the message in the event of a cancellation.

Volunteer- like any church ministry the music ministry has needs, financial, spiritual, and organizational.  Sometimes we just need help!  This year we would love to form several committees to begin meeting the needs are ministry has.  If you feel that you have the time and are being called to help us; or if you have a significant other who is not musically inclined but would like to help; please fill out the place indicated on your information form or speak to your director.  Help is always appreciated.  This year we are especially looking for, publicity and advertising, ticket sales, set up/ break down (concert), web design, library/book repair, and fundraising.
