The hope is that these gatherings about our journey of faith will help us to know what is ours to do: “Pray, Serve, Give.”

Do you ever feel as if you’ve settled
 into a sort of spiritual lethargy? 
Pope Francis has said,
“Lent comes . . . to reawaken us, to shake us from our lethargy."
If you’ve ever felt like this, and if you’d like to spend at least part of the upcoming Lenten season shaking off that lethargy, consider spending four Tuesday evenings in Lent with a group of us who plan to combine the inspiration of Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato Si – On Care for Our Common Home with a special 2016 National Geographic video, ‘Before the Flood.’ Drawing insight and creativity from both of these, we’ll focus on the importance, even the obligation, to do everything we can to keep our land, air, and water healthy and to examine how inequality plays into the subject.
During the four-weeks, we will explore together the issues that confront us to maintaining healthy air, food, and water. We’ll discuss various actions we might take as a group and as individuals to shake off that lethargy once and for all. 
This 4-week program is being presented by two St. Mary’s ministries – Franciscan Response to Fracking and Advocates for Justice. Because this series involves a group process, we request that you commit to the four weeks if you register to attend.

Service with ashes: each hour on the hour begins with a
short prayer service and the distribution of ashes.

During the season of Lent, the entire Parish will be using
the theme of SERVE throughout our liturgies and 
ministry programming. To move the theme beyond words,
the Parish of St. Mary's is going to participate in 40acts. 
40acts is a generosity challenge which encourages
participants to do at least one different act of kindness each
day of Lent. Most are quite simple!
 Small deeds to change our world.
The challenges, beginning on
 March 1, Ash Wednesday,
will be posted on the St. Mary's Facebook page
and this Website!
Help us join a movement of giving back, doing good
and living generously.

Ash Wednesday will be here soon. We will again
be collecting your old palms for burning, to 
be used on Ash Wednesday, March 1.
A basket for this purpose will be located in the St. Francis 
alcove across from the confessional. Thank you.

Anyone else who wishes to receive a statement,

Children’s Choir will meet Sundays from 9:15-10 AM. for
10-week session. Open to all children grades K- 5; first
rehearsal - Sunday, February 12 [rehearsals every Sunday
until April 16]. The choir will sing at 9:00 o’clock mass
on March 5 and April 16 [Easter Sunday]. Please consider
having your child come sing with us!
