                        Advent Mornings of Prayer

CANCELLED!
Saturdays, December  10, 17

Lectio Divina

(Latin for Divine Reading) is a traditional
Benedictine practice of scriptural reading, meditation
and prayer intended to increase the knowledge of God’s
Word.
It is not a theological analysis, but a sharing time for
reflection and interpretation.

Mondays, December 12 & 19
 Prayer Room
7:00 - 8:00 PM

We will use the Gospel for the following
Sunday as our point of reference.
The hour-long practice goes back to monastic times when
the same scripture passage is read three times with a period
of silence after each reading, followed by participants
sharing their insight into God’s Word (if they choose).
This is based on two beliefs: 1) silent time gives time to
listen to God and 2) each of us carries a piece of the Good
News within our hearts.

Our Lady of Guadalupe

On Sunday December 11th we will join our Latino sisters and brothers in celebrating Our Lady of Guadalupe. There will be a procession departing from St. Anthony’s in Butler at 6:00AM and arriving at Saint Mary’s at 8:30AM. This will be followed by a bilingual Mass at 9 AM in the church, with a Mariachi band, and a festive celebration in the Carnevale Center. Our Lady of Guadalupe is the Patroness of the Americas and the Philippines. This celebration is a wonderful way to honor the Blessed Mother and to join with our Latino brothers and sisters in celebrating our unity as a parish! Please join us!

2016 Annual Fund
Pray Serve Give
Pray Serve Give

Dear Friends,

It’s hard to believe that 2016 is rushing to a close! Thanksgiving is just 3 weeks away, Advent starts November 27th and Christmas follows 4 weeks later! In just about 7 weeks we’ll be saying “Happy New Year!” As the year draws to a close and you consider some year end giving I ask that you please remember the St. Mary’s Annual Fund. As you might imagine we get a great many requests for help during the holiday season and we incur greater costs at this time of year. The St. Mary’s community is always generous and for that I am very grateful. I ask you once again to be generous to your parish and to the people who come to us in need.
Please make a year end gift to the St. Mary’s Annual Fund!

Thanks for your generosity and be assured of my prayers and the those of Fr. Joe, Fr. Richard and Fr. Gonzalo for a peaceful and joyful celebration of the Advent and Christmas Season!

Fr. Frank

Saint Mary’s Prayer for Discipleship

Blessed are You, Lord God of all creation,
In Your goodness You have created us,
In Your mercy You have redeemed us,
And in Your every loving Wisdom
You sustain us with your Spirit.
You have given us the gift of faith,
the gift of Saint Mary’s community,
and the gift of Your call to be Your disciples.
We beg You now for the gifts of:
Enlightenment
that through our PRAYER we may know Your holy and true command;
Discipleship
that we may SERVE the needs of the community and not simply our own; and,
Gratitude
that we may give of ourselves for the good of all.
May we discover what is ours to do and
may we do good works each day for the sake of Your Kingdom. Amen.
